After Bangladesh's bowlers reduced Zimbabwe to 24-3, Craig Ervine (93) and Brendan Taylor (81) anchored a 150-run partnership to guide Zimbabwe to 271-8. In response, Bangladesh collapsed to 172 all out, with Brad Evans taking 4-45.
Bangladesh faced significant personnel challenges, as captain Litton Das was ruled out of the series due to a right hip injury. Vice-captain Towhid Hridoy took over leadership duties for the match. Additionally, all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz missed the opener due to fever.
Following the defeat, pacer Taskin Ahmed described the batting collapse as a “reality check,” noting that the target was chaseable on the Abu Dhabi pitch. He emphasized the need for greater consistency and game awareness within the batting unit.
