Asian Games 2026 women's cricket gold medal India vs Sri Lanka Smriti Mandhana

The India women's cricket team successfully defended their Asian Games gold medal, defeating Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the final at Aichi-Nagoya. India posted a total of 216-3, led by Smriti Mandhana’s 79 runs off 45 balls and an unbeaten 49 from Richa Ghosh. In response, Sri Lanka was bowled out for just 69 runs in 15.4 overs, with Deepti Sharma claiming figures of 3-6.

Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana finished the tournament as the third-highest run-scorer. Pacer Nandani Sharma, who took three wickets during the campaign, credited the victory to sticking to basics and following captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s instructions.

While the team celebrated the win, captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed irritation regarding camera flashes upon her return to Delhi. The victory marks back-to-back Asian Games gold medals for the Indian side, following their 2023 triumph.
