India Women crush England in historic Lord's Test

India's women's cricket team recorded a landmark 270‑run victory over England in the first ever women's Test at Lord's, the venue's inaugural women's Test after 142 years. The side set a record target of 457 runs, bowled England out for 186 on the final day and secured a 270‑run win. The match attracted a record 37,846 spectators, the highest attendance for a women's Test.

Key milestones included Yastika Bhatia becoming the first woman to score a Test century at Lord's, and debutant pacer Kranti Gaud taking the first five‑wicket haul by a woman at the ground. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur broke Mithali Raj’s record to become India’s most successful women's Test captain. All‑rounder Deepti Sharma contributed a half‑century and three wickets, while teammates Smriti Mandhana, Richa Ghosh and others added vital runs.

Coach Amol Muzumdar praised the win and called for a Women’s World Test Championship, citing the growing test calendar. Parents of Deepti Sharma celebrated the triumph and urged the team to carry the momentum into the upcoming Asian Games.
