India youth initiatives focus on democratic dialogue and development

The National Federation of Youth Movements (NFYM) recently held a dialogue titled ‘Idea of India’ at Jawaharlal Nehru University. The event brought together academics, journalists, and youth leaders to discuss India’s democratic, constitutional, and pluralistic character. Participants emphasized the necessity of cross-ideological communication to strengthen democratic engagement and highlighted the historical contributions of Adivasi and Muslim communities to the nation's social fabric.

Looking toward future large-scale engagement, organizers have announced the ‘Viksit Bharat Young India Dialogue 2027’. Scheduled for January 10–12, 2027, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, the three-day event aims to connect approximately one crore young people. The program is intended to amplify youth perspectives on India’s development journey and will include a quiz competition held in 22 languages. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address the participants during the event.
