Indian Air Force instructors deployed to train UK pilots

Three Indian Air Force Qualified Flying Instructors (QFIs) have been deployed to RAF Valley in Wales to train Royal Air Force fast-jet pilots. This deployment marks the first time Indian QFIs have been sent to the United Kingdom, representing a significant milestone in India–UK defence cooperation.

The Indian Air Force described the move as a “landmark step in strengthening our shared commitment to professional excellence, interoperability and enduring India–UK ties.”

This development follows high-level discussions between Indian and British officials, including meetings between Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and UK National Security Advisor Jonathan Nicholas Powell. It also builds upon previous agreements made during official visits by leadership to expand bilateral exchanges through joint exercises, training, and capacity building.
