Indian Air Force rescues 12 people from Indravati River floods

An Indian Air Force (IAF) Mi-17V5 helicopter rescued 12 people, including two women and three children, who were stranded overnight due to the flooding of the Indravati River in Chhattisgarh.

The rescue operation was conducted from Jagdalpur after a distress call reported civilians trapped on the rooftop of a kutcha hut on the north bank of the river near Dongaghat village. A Garud commando assisted in the operation to ensure the safety of those at risk as the roof faced potential collapse from rising water levels.

Medical professionals at Jagdalpur Medical College are currently treating an increasing number of flood-affected patients. Dr Abhijit Sahu reported that many individuals, particularly children, are suffering from colds and fevers after being exposed to floodwaters. Relief teams continue to monitor river levels and distribute materials to affected families.
