Indian Ambassador Harsh Kumar Jain visits cultural sites in Aklan, Philippines

Indian Ambassador to the Philippines, Harsh Kumar Jain, visited several cultural sites in Aklan province, including the Ati-Atihan Museum, Museo It Akean, and the Haboean Weaving Studio and Cafe. The visit aimed to explore the region's rich heritage, specifically the traditions of the Ati-Atihan festival and the centuries-old art of Piña weaving, which utilizes pineapple fibers.

The visit highlights the strengthening cultural ties between India and the Philippines. Both nations have recently upgraded their relationship to a 'strategic partnership,' involving cooperation in defense—notably the BrahMos missile deal—maritime security, and bilateral trade exceeding $3.5 billion.

Economic cooperation continues to grow, with trade expected to approach $4 billion. Recent developments include the resumption of direct flights between the two countries and eased visa regulations, allowing Indian citizens to visit the Philippines for up to 14 days without a visa for tourism or small business trips.
