Indian and Pakistani warships collide in the North Arabian Sea FAST-MOVING
An Indian Navy warship and a Pakistani naval vessel collided in the North Arabian Sea on the evening of September 15. The incident occurred in international waters while the Indian vessel was conducting a routine surveillance mission.
According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the collision was caused by a Pakistani naval ship approaching the Indian warship at high speed and performing maneuvers described as ‘unprofessional and unsafe.’ The MEA stated that the Pakistani vessel’s conduct was in direct contravention of Article 10 of the 1991 bilateral agreement regarding advance notice for military exercises and troop movements.
While no major damage to the vessels or casualties were reported, India has taken diplomatic action. The MEA summoned Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires in New Delhi to lodge a strong protest. Additionally, India has instructed its own Charge d’Affaires in Islamabad to lodge a similar formal protest with Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
