Indian Army and BSF strengthen border security and infrastructure

The Indian Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) held a joint coordination session in Bhuj, Gujarat, to enhance operational synergy along the Rann and Creek sector of Kutch. The meeting, titled ‘Rann & Creek Sentinels – Synergy in Action,’ involved the Army’s 75 (Independent) Infantry Brigade, also known as the Bald Eagle Brigade, and BSF Gujarat Frontier officials. Discussions focused on joint response mechanisms, logistics coordination, and addressing security challenges in the difficult terrain of salt marshes and tidal creeks.

Separately, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar inaugurated new administrative and residential infrastructure at the BSF sector headquarters in Keerapakkam, near Chennai. The facilities, costing over ₹30 crore, are intended to improve welfare and living conditions for personnel. The Minister highlighted the BSF’s role in maintaining internal security and combating Naxalite threats, specifically noting the impact of the Chennai–Malkangiri sector in Odisha.
