Indian Army athletes win record 20 medals at Asian Games 2026
The Indian Army’s sporting contingent achieved a record-breaking performance at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, securing 20 medals. The haul includes six gold, eight silver, and six bronze medals.
These 20 medals accounted for approximately 23.52 per cent of India’s total 85-medal tally at the Games. The six gold medals represent a 100 per cent increase compared to the Army’s gold medal count at the 2022 Games.
Notable individual achievements include Naib Subedar Neeru Dhanda, who won two gold and one silver medal in trap shooting, and Naib Subedar Gulveer Singh, who became the first Indian male track-and-field athlete to win three individual medals at a single edition of the Games. Army athletes set records in several disciplines, including marathon, recurve archery, 10m air pistol mixed team, and women’s trap shooting.
