Indian Army commissions 342 officers at OTA Chennai

A total of 342 officer cadets were commissioned into the Indian Army during a Passing Out Parade at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai on September 5, 2026. The ceremony, which marked the completion of rigorous military training, was reviewed by the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Krishna Swaminathan.

The graduating cohort included 29 women. Additionally, 17 cadets from friendly foreign countries, including 10 women, successfully completed their training, highlighting international military cooperation.

Among the newly commissioned officers are four cadets from Punjab, including two women from the Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute for Girls and two from the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute. These officers have been assigned to various branches, including the Army Aviation Corps, Army Ordnance Corps, Regiment of Artillery, and the Judge Advocate General Branch.
