Indian Army debunks disinformation regarding Chinese troops in Arunachal Pradesh

The Indian Army has issued a fact check to debunk a fake video circulated by Pakistan-linked social media accounts. The video falsely claimed that Chinese soldiers were searching Indian Army personnel within Arunachal Pradesh and suggested that Indian troops required permission from Chinese forces to move through the state.

The Army clarified that the footage actually depicts a counter-terrorism mock drill conducted in Bengaluru, Karnataka, in May 2026. Officials cautioned the public against confusing security exercises with actual military confrontations and identified the disinformation pattern as using old drills with false military identification and fabricated locations to create misleading border security narratives.

Additionally, the Army addressed other propaganda from Pakistan-linked accounts, including false claims of a military crackdown on a group called the ‘Cockroach Janta Party’. The Army noted that these accounts used old photographs from a student protest at Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi to spread misinformation.
