Indian Army Rescues Hundreds in Assam Floods, Provides Essential Aid

The Indian army intensified its flood‑relief operation in Assam’s hardest‑hit districts of Shivasagar, Charai Deo and Jorhat. By 22 July the army had rescued more than 700 people, supplied medical assistance to over 150 flood‑affected residents and distributed emergency rations, clean drinking water and other essential supplies.

A later update from the same operation reported that 990 additional men, women and children were safely evacuated. The forces handed out 460 food packets, made more than 5,000 bottles of water available and delivered medical care to over 400 people through field clinics. The floods have impacted about 7.2 million people across 25 districts in the state, with 31 confirmed deaths.
