Indian Army to unveil new Land Warfare Doctrine
The Indian Army is set to release a new Land Warfare Doctrine on October 23 during the Army Commanders’ Conference in New Delhi. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will unveil the document, which aims to provide a framework for preparing the military for the changing nature of modern conflict.
The updated doctrine addresses emerging threats in multiple domains, including artificial intelligence, drones, electronic warfare, cyber capabilities, and information warfare. It also focuses on ‘grey zone’ operations that fall below the threshold of conventional armed conflict. The new strategy follows lessons learned from Operation Sindoor and comes approximately eight years after the previous doctrine was released in 2018.
During the conference, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh urged senior leadership to develop a long-term strategic vision spanning the next 20 to 30 years. He emphasized the need for a self-reliant defense manufacturing ecosystem and the integration of autonomous systems, data analytics, and secure communication networks to ensure national security.
