Indian athletes reach finals at World Athletics U20 Championships

India’s Mohammed Ashfaq broke his own U20 national record with a 45.81‑second run in the men’s 400 m heats in Eugene, qualifying for the semi‑final and ultimately the final of the World Athletics U20 Championships. In the same competition, three Indian throwers secured places in the final rounds: javelin thrower Ashish Yadav, who topped Group A with a 69.87 m throw, T Dharanidharan, who claimed the last qualifying spot in javelin, and discus thrower Amanat Kamboj, who earned the final slot with a season‑best 52.58 m.

Other Indian athletes also posted notable performances, including high jumper Basant (2.14 m) and mixed‑relay team members Piyush Raj, Tahura Khatun, Sayed Sabeer and Thiya Arumugam, though they did not advance beyond the opening round.
