Indian athletes use smart track technology for 2026 Asian Games prep

Indian athletes are utilizing advanced ‘Smart Track’ technology at the Sports Authority of India’s (SAI) National Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru to prepare for the 2026 Asian Games. The national coaching camp, sanctioned by the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), is scheduled to run until September 8.

The training facility features a specialized smart track that provides real-time performance data, including speed, split timings, stride length, and stride frequency. This technology allows coaches to capture precise metrics to enhance athlete performance.

The camp includes several members of India’s 73-athlete athletics contingent, such as steeplechase runner Avinash Sable, 800m runner Krishan Kumar, high jumpers Aadarsh Ram and Supriya B, decathlete Thowfeeq N, middle- and long-distance runner Parul Chaudhary, and race walkers Manju Rani and Priyanka. The Asian Games are set to take place in Aichi-Nagoya from September 19 to October 4.
