Indian authorities seize large quantities of illegal liquor in Pune and Indore
Excise departments in Pune and Indore have conducted major raids, seizing large quantities of illegal alcohol.
In Pune, authorities intercepted a vehicle in Wagholi containing 287 sealed bottles of foreign liquor intended for sale in Haryana. A separate raid in Lohgaon uncovered 50 bottles of wine and foreign liquor specifically reserved for Indian military personnel. Total seizures in Pune, including a Mahindra Thar and mobile phones, are valued at approximately 30.47 lakh rupees.
In Indore, a joint operation by the DGGI and the Excise Department led to the seizure of roughly 3,000 cases of illegal liquor valued at approximately 3 crore rupees. The shipment, discovered in a warehouse during a raid for counterfeit tobacco, was reportedly being prepared for transport to other states. Authorities suspect the alcohol may be counterfeit and have sent samples to a laboratory in Sagar for testing.
