Indian banks report varied Q2 FY27 financial results
Several Indian financial institutions reported strong second-quarter results for the 2026-27 fiscal year, characterized by rising profits and improved asset quality.
Axis Bank reported a 38% year-on-year increase in standalone net profit to ₹7,003 crore, driven by a 52% decline in provisions and improved asset quality. Its gross non-performing assets (NPA) fell to 1.16% from 1.46% a year prior. Similarly, Yes Bank saw its net profit surge 65% year-on-year to ₹1,080 crore, with total assets crossing the ₹5 lakh crore threshold.
Other notable performers include Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, which recorded a record net profit of ₹365 crore, a 199.9% increase year-on-year. Central Bank of India reported a 21.1% rise in quarterly net profit to ₹1,469 crore, while Punjab National Bank (PNB) posted a 13% rise in net profit to ₹5,532 crore, marking its highest quarterly profit to date.
In contrast, IDBI Bank reported a 39% decline in standalone net profit to ₹2,205 crore. This decrease was attributed to the absence of one-time gains from a previous year's stake sale, despite a 29% increase in net interest income.
