Indian banks receive Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar for Hindi implementation

Indian banks Central Bank of India and Bank of India have received prestigious Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar awards for their efforts in implementing and promoting Hindi as the Official Language.

At the 6th All India Rajbhasha Conference held in Navi Mumbai on September 14–15, 2026, the Central Bank of India was awarded the first prize, known as the Rajbhasha Shield. The award was presented to Managing Director and CEO Kalyan Kumar by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. The bank also celebrated the 100-year milestone of its bilingual in-house magazine, Centralite.

Bank of India received the third prize under the category for nationalized banks and financial institutions with more than 800 employees. The award was presented to Executive Director Rajiv Mishra and other officials by Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai. The recognition highlights the bank's initiatives to increase the use of Hindi in banking operations and among its workforce.
