Indian banks stay open on June 6, 2026 as RBI announces June holiday calendar

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released the official bank holiday calendar for June 2026, listing a total of 11 days when branch operations will be closed nationwide. The schedule includes the usual weekly closures on Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays (13 June and 27 June). Additional holidays are set for 7 June, 14 June, 21 June and 28 June (all Sundays), as well as regional observances such as Muharram on 25‑26 June in West Bengal and other states.

A notable exception is 6 June 2026, the first Saturday of the month, when banks across India will remain open for regular business. Despite branch closures on other holidays, electronic services—including UPI, mobile and internet banking, and ATM access—will continue to operate uninterrupted throughout the month.

The calendar also creates a three‑day “long weekend” in West Bengal from 26‑28 June, during which banks in Kolkata and surrounding areas will be closed, prompting traders to manage cash flow in advance.
