Indian Beverage Association supports BRICS sustainability goals

The Indian Beverage Association (IBA) has expressed support for the sustainability commitments detailed in the BRICS New Delhi Declaration. The association, which represents India’s non-alcoholic beverage manufacturers, highlighted the declaration's focus on integrated waste management, resource efficiency, and material circularity.

IBA Secretary General Dr. Gunveena Chadha noted that the industry has already begun adopting principles such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), eco-design, and sustainable public procurement. She stated that member companies have invested in packaging redesign, lightweighting, and PET collection and recycling systems.

The IBA also endorsed the proposed BRICS Network of Institutions to Advance Knowledge Sharing, Research and Innovation in Sustainable Lifestyles. The association views this as a platform for cross-border collaboration on recycling technologies and packaging innovation among BRICS nations.
