Indian boxers begin multinational training for Asian Games

Indian boxers are undergoing intensive preparation for the upcoming Asian Games through a multinational training camp at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports in Patiala. The camp includes athletes from Iran and the Dominican Republic, such as Paris Olympics bronze medallists Junior Alcantara and Cristian Pinales.

Following the Patiala camp, the squad is scheduled to travel to Nagoya, Japan, on September 8 for a final preparatory stint. After the training in Japan, the Asian Games-bound athletes will move directly to their team hotel for the competition, which begins on September 19.

While the Indian team recently achieved success at the Commonwealth Games, officials and athletes note that the Asian Games will present a significantly higher level of competition. The team expects a tough challenge from regional powerhouses such as Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, which saw strong medal performances at the Paris Olympics.
