Indian boxers secure multiple gold medals at Commonwealth Games 2026
Indian boxers achieved significant success at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, highlighted by multiple gold medals.
Arundhati Choudhary secured the gold medal in the women's 70kg boxing category after defeating England's Chantelle Reid. She credited the support of the Rajasthan government for her success. Similarly, Sakshi Dhanda won gold in the women's 51kg category, revealing that cricketer Virat Kohli and his foundation served as her sponsors for three years during a difficult period in her career.
Ankush Panghal also earned a gold medal, defeating England's Dimeji Shittu in the final after a decisive semi-final victory over Canada's Joshua Ofori. Panghal, who received early training from the Dr. Subhash Chandra Foundation, was honored by Dr. Subhash Chandra for his achievement.
In addition to boxing, India's athletic performance included a silver medal for Neeraj Chopra and a bronze for Yashvir Singh in the men's javelin throw. Rajasthan Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore praised the medalists, noting their ability to inspire the state's youth.
