Indian businesses prioritize supply chain resilience and diversification
According to DP World’s India Country Report 2026, Indian businesses are actively redesigning supply chains to prioritize resilience and growth. Based on a survey of 451 senior logistics executives, the report indicates that Indian companies are placing a higher emphasis on resilience than their global counterparts.
Key strategies identified include supplier diversification, strategic inventory management, and friend-shoring. Digitalization is also a major driver, with over 50% of Indian businesses having fully digitalized customer-facing services, surpassing the global average of less than 40%. Artificial intelligence is being utilized to optimize routes, documentation, and customs processes.
Policy and infrastructure also play significant roles. Nearly half of the executives surveyed cited Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) as the top policy priority for trade growth. Additionally, the report notes stronger access to trade finance in India, with 57% of respondents reporting reasonable availability compared to 39% globally. To support these shifts, there is an increasing focus on multimodal connectivity, including road networks, rail, and coastal shipping.
