Indian cargo ships and oil tankers clear Hormuz for domestic ports

Four Indian‑bound cargo vessels carrying urea, di‑ammonium phosphate (DAP) and sulphur successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz and are now sailing toward the Indian ports of Krishnapatnam, Kakinada, Paradeep and Mundra. The shipments will be off‑loaded to augment India’s fertiliser stocks, which stood at about 196.08 lakh tonnes as of June 22, up from 168.67 lakh tonnes a year earlier.

Three Indian‑flagged crude‑oil tankers – Desh Vaibhav, Desh Vibhor and Sanmar Herald – also completed the Hormuz crossing, carrying more than 8.6 lakh metric tonnes of cargo with 94 crew members. The vessels are scheduled to arrive at Vadinar, Sikka and Paradip ports between June 24 and July 1, securing a key supply line for India’s energy needs as regional tensions ease.
