Indian Central Railway Cancels 30 Trains After Bhor Ghat Landslides

Heavy rain on July 6 triggered landslides between Karjat and Lonavala on the Bhor Ghat section of the Mumbai‑Pune route, damaging three railway lines. The Central Railway issued a notice that 30 long‑distance and intercity trains, including the Deccan Queen, Deccan Express, Mahalaxmi Express, CSMT‑Hyderabad Express, Chennai Egmore Superfast Mail and Hubli‑Dadar Express, are cancelled from July 10 to July 17 while repair work continues.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the terrain and material‑delivery challenges are slowing restoration, but one of the three tracks has already been reopened. Passengers are advised to check the NTES app or the railway helpline for updates and to note that some special trains have also been rescheduled or terminated.

The cancellations affect commuters between Mumbai and Pune and disrupt services to destinations such as Gorakhpur, Ghazipur City and Hazrat Nizamuddin, underscoring the broader impact of the monsoon‑related landslides on India's rail network.
