Indian Coast Guard seizes Rs 3,000 crore in narcotics in Arabian Sea

The Indian Coast Guard and the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) intercepted an Iranian dhow in the Arabian Sea, west of Lakshadweep, on September 25, seizing approximately 526 kg of high-grade narcotics. The contraband, consisting of heroin and methamphetamine, is estimated to have an international market value exceeding Rs 3,000 crore.

Following a coordinated sea-air surveillance operation and a hot pursuit based on actionable intelligence, authorities boarded the vessel and apprehended five Pakistani nationals who were operating the dhow. The intercepted vessel, the crew, and the seized drugs have been escorted under armed security to Mumbai for joint interrogation and multi-agency legal proceedings.

The operation is described by officials as a significant strike against transnational narco-terrorism networks and a major success in disrupting maritime drug-smuggling routes used by international syndicates.
