Indian Congress launches 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' campaign demanding education overhaul and minister's resignation

On June 25, 2026 the Indian National Congress began the “Chhatron Ki Goonj” (Voice of Students) campaign, holding coordinated press conferences in 28 cities across India, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Patna and others. Senior party leaders such as Satej Patil, Varsha Gaikwad, Pawan Khera, Kanhaiya Kumar and several others addressed the rallies.

The campaign calls for a complete overhaul of the national education system and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, whom the party says the Modi government has privatised, centralised and “Sanghified” education. It highlights repeated examination irregularities, especially the NEET‑UG 2026 paper leak, and alleges a nexus between coaching institutes and leak networks.

Over a 40‑day outreach (June 25 – August 9) Congress will distribute leaflets, hold campus meetings and organise a “Delhi Chalo” march on August 9 after an August 1 students’ yatra. The party also seeks an inquiry into the National Testing Agency and demands a fixed annual exam calendar.
