Indian courts sentence men for sexual assault of minors

In two separate legal developments in India, courts have handed down sentences for crimes against minors.

A Gurugram court convicted 28-year-old Indrajeet, also known as Ashu, for the rape of a 17-year-old girl. The incident occurred in April 2023. The court sentenced the defendant to 20 years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 under Section 6 of the POCSO Act, along with additional fines and sentences under sections of the IPC.

In Gangakhed, the Additional District and Sessions Court sentenced Omkar alias Dadda Gopalrao Sakat to three years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ten thousand rupees. The conviction follows an incident involving the sexual assault of a seven-year-old girl in August 2025. The case was processed under the POCSO Act following an investigation by the Gangakhed police.
