Indian courts sentence two men to life imprisonment for killing wives
Courts in two separate Indian cases have sentenced men to life imprisonment for the murder of their wives.
In Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, a court sentenced Nawab to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of 26,000 rupees for the 2022 dowry death of his wife. The conviction followed an investigation under the Uttar Pradesh police Operation Conviction campaign, which focuses on ensuring effective prosecution in criminal cases.
In a separate incident in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, a farmer named Vijay Parmar was sentenced to life imprisonment for killing his wife, Deepabai, due to suspicions regarding her character. After the killing, the accused attempted to burn the body before hiding it in a bed box. The conviction was secured after the couple's daughter, who witnessed the incident, provided testimony in court.
