Indian Embassy in Beijing celebrates 80th Independence Day
The Indian Embassy in Beijing celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with a series of cultural programs and official ceremonies. The event was attended by Indian Ambassador Vikram Doraiswami, diplomats, members of the Indian diaspora, and Chinese nationals.
The celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by Ambassador Doraiswami, followed by the singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ and the national anthem. During a ceremony at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center, the Ambassador read excerpts from President Droupadi Murmu’s national address, emphasizing the importance of ensuring all citizens have opportunities to fulfill their aspirations and working toward the goal of making India a leading global nation.
Despite heavy rain, the festivities continued with cultural performances by children from the Indian community, who sang various patriotic songs. The Ambassador also honored winners of several pre-Independence Day competitions, including music, quizzes, and art contests.
