Indian Embassy officials honor Air India crash victims in France

Officials from the Indian Embassy in France held a memorial service at the Saint-Gervais monument in Nid-d'Aigle, Mont Blanc, to honor the victims of the 1950 and 1966 Air India plane crashes.

Deputy Chief of Mission Enam Gambhir laid a wreath at the memorial, which commemorates several Indian passengers, including Homi J. Bhabha, the father of India’s nuclear program, who died in the 1966 accident. The ceremony marked the seventh anniversary of the memorial's inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019.

During the visit, Gambhir met with Jean-Marc Peylet, the Mayor of Saint-Gervais-les-Bains, to express gratitude for the municipality's care of the site and to discuss continued cooperation in preserving the shared memorial and strengthening bilateral ties between India and France.
