Ramayana film’s trailer release delayed as Sony handles global distribution
The much‑anticipated Indian epic film "Ramayana" has postponed its trailer launch. Originally slated for a worldwide digital release on July 24, the trailer will now debut on July 28 in select international markets and on July 30 in India. The delay follows a newly signed global distribution partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment, which will manage the film’s overseas release outside India.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the two‑part project stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Yash as Ravana and Sai Pallavi as Sita. Part 1 is scheduled for a Diwali theatrical debut on 8 November 2026, with Part 2 to follow in Diwali 2027. The climactic showdown between Rama and Ravana has not yet been filmed.
Promotional activities have included appearances at the San Diego Comic‑Con, where Ranbir and Yash praised each other’s performances. Yash disclosed that he immerses himself in the role by playing loud Shiva bhajans on set. The film’s trailer has been leaked repeatedly after screenings in New Delhi and at Comic‑Con, prompting fans to call for an official release. A "First Pledge" event in New Delhi, intended to preview the trailer, was also postponed amid student protests.
