Indian farmer creates BRICS leader portraits using various grains

Yogendra Pal Singh Solanki, a farmer from Superli village in the Narmadapuram district of Madhya Pradesh, has created portraits of BRICS leaders using various types of grains. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Shree Anna’ initiative to promote millets, Solanki used grains such as ragi, pearl millet (bajra), amaranth (rajgira), kodo millet, kutki, paddy, wheat, sesame, and poppy seeds to craft the artworks.

The portraits include prominent world leaders attending the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, such as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Solanki meticulously colored the grains and adhered them individually to create detailed facial features. He intends to share these artworks with the respective foreign embassies via email to showcase India’s agricultural heritage and cultural traditions through its diverse grains.
