Indian Gaming Association meets with California Tribal leaders
The Indian Gaming Association (IGA) leadership recently conducted an outreach tour in California to meet with Tribal leaders regarding organizational priorities, legislative advocacy, and legal efforts to protect Tribal sovereignty and Indian gaming.
Chairman David Z. Bean and Executive Director Jason Giles met with the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation Council in San Bernardino and attended a California Nations Indian Gaming Association meeting at Viejas Casino & Resort in Alpine. The IGA is expanding its team and resources, including the addition of consultant Reid Milanovich, a former Chairman of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, to strengthen relationships with federal policymakers.
A key focus of the discussions involves addressing emerging threats to Tribal gaming, specifically prediction markets that offer sports betting and casino-style gambling. The IGA is pursuing both legislative and legal strategies to safeguard the rights of Tribal Nations as it prepares for the 2027 Congress.
