Indian High Commissioner meets with Bahujana Balaya

The Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, held a meeting lasting over three hours with representatives of the Bahujana Balaya political group. Accompanied by Dr. Rambabu C., the High Commissioner engaged in discussions that moved beyond ceremonial courtesy to address substantive regional and bilateral issues.

Key topics of discussion included Sri Lanka–India diplomatic relations, trade and economic cooperation, and regional security. The parties also addressed the 13th Amendment and the relationship between the Northern and Southern communities in Sri Lanka. During the exchange, the High Commissioner provided insights into India’s system of governance, democratic institutions, and diplomatic principles.

Bahujana Balaya representatives stated that the meeting was intended to focus on matters of national importance rather than to criticize the current Sri Lankan President or government. The group emphasized that open dialogue is essential for building trust and long-term cooperation between the two nations.
