Indian High Court Grants Police Protection to Ostracized Inter‑Caste Couple

Manudhar, who married outside his caste, filed a petition after his village barred him and his family from entering their homes. The Madras High Court, led by Justice G. K. Ilandriyan, ordered police protection for Manudhar and his relatives, directing the police to ensure they face no harm from the 7‑11 accused villagers. The court also instructed the police to complete the investigation of related criminal complaints within 12 weeks and to file a fresh report with the revenue officer (R.T.O.). The complaints cite offences under the B.N.S. Act, including immoral acts, illegal confinement, malicious injury, and criminal intimidation. The ruling aims to safeguard the family’s right to live in their own home and to investigate the alleged caste‑based ostracism.
