Indian hockey teams to return to traditional blue jerseys
The Indian men's and women's hockey teams will return to their traditional blue jerseys for the upcoming Asian Games. This decision follows significant controversy and protests regarding the recent switch to orange kits used during the FIH World Cup in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey clarified that the previous change to orange was intended to improve player visibility on blue pitches, but noted the decision had been implemented without the approval of the elected leadership or the Executive Board. Tirkey stated that blue remains the primary choice, with orange serving as a secondary option.
Following consultations with the Indian Olympic Association, Hockey India has confirmed that the blue kit will be the preferred choice for the upcoming games. The jersey change had previously drawn criticism from several former Indian hockey legends and sparked political discussions.
