Indian leaders criticize Congress over EVM allegations
Political leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) have criticized the Congress party for questioning the integrity of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) following electoral losses.
In Maharashtra, BJP MLA Ram Kadam noted that recent Legislative Council (MLC) elections were conducted using paper ballots, yet Congress secured only one out of 28 seats. Kadam argued that the party should engage in introspection rather than blaming the Election Commission or voting technology.
In Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu questioned the Congress's stance, pointing out that EVMs were originally introduced under a Congress-led government. Naidu suggested that the opposition's criticism of the machines only arises after they face defeat, rather than during their period of governance.
