Indian long jumper Murali Sreeshankar wins Commonwealth silver after injury comeback

Murali Sreeshankar secured a silver medal in the long jump at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, recording a leap of 8.09 metres. The achievement comes after a ruptured patellar tendon in April 2024 forced him out of the Paris Olympics and required surgery in Qatar followed by extensive rehabilitation.

His father, former triple‑jumper Murali S, serves as his personal coach and was present on the sidelines, highlighting the close family bond that underpinned the athlete’s recovery.
