Indian stock markets rebound amid banking gains and RBI policy anticipation

Indian benchmark equity indices, the Sensex and Nifty 50, have staged a multi-day recovery, snapping recent losing streaks. The Sensex recently climbed as high as 73,067 points, while the Nifty 50 reclaimed levels above 22,750.

Key drivers for the market rebound include positive global cues, particularly from US markets and the Nasdaq, as well as easing crude oil prices which have dropped toward the $100 per barrel mark. Investors are also reacting to strong quarterly business updates from various sectors.

Banking and financial stocks, including Axis Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank, have provided significant support to the indices. Other notable performers include Trent, which saw substantial gains following strong revenue growth.

Market participants are now closely monitoring the upcoming Reserve Bank of India (RBI) monetary policy decision. Investors are anticipating whether the central bank will implement a repo rate hike to address inflation pressures. While the recovery shows momentum, analysts note that elevated US Treasury yields and continued selling by Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) may cap further upside.
