Indian ministers clash over RG Kar case and parliamentary debates

Indian political leaders have exchanged criticisms regarding the handling of the RG Kar Medical College rape and murder case and the willingness of the Opposition to engage in parliamentary debate.

West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh criticized Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of lacking the courage to engage directly with political developments in Jharkhand and for making remarks from the sidelines. Ghosh also held West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee responsible for alleged large-scale corruption in the state and the RG Kar incident.

Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar stated that the government is prepared for a parliamentary discussion on these issues but accused the Opposition of avoiding debate. Majumdar also criticized the West Bengal government's handling of the RG Kar case, calling for legal action against those responsible for any alleged wrongdoing or destruction of evidence.
