Indian missions advise citizens in UAE to secure medical insurance
The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of India in Dubai and the Northern Emirates have issued an advisory urging Indian nationals to obtain adequate medical insurance when traveling to or residing in the United Arab Emirates.
The advisory follows reports of Indian citizens facing substantial medical bills due to unforeseen illnesses or emergencies that exceeded their financial capacity and existing insurance coverage. For tourists and visitors, the missions recommend securing policies that include cashless facilities and coverage for medical repatriation to India.
Indian nationals living in the UAE on employment visas or as dependents are also advised to verify that their current insurance is sufficient to cover all medical expenses within the country and includes provisions for repatriation to India.
