Indian mountaineering institutes complete major high-altitude expeditions
Indian mountaineering institutes have completed several high-profile expeditions. The Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) successfully completed four expeditions, including a summit of Mount Aconcagua in Argentina led by Colonel Hem Chandra Singh and the Nun-Kun Expedition, which saw the successful summiting of Mount Kun, Mount Delta-41, and Mount Nun.
Separately, a 20-member team from the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS) achieved a milestone in Ladakh by summiting 20 previously unclimbed peaks above 6,000 metres within 23 days. This expedition, led by Colonel Ranveer Singh Jamwal, covered the Chamser-Lungser, Gyama Nala, and Chokula areas of the Ladakh Range. Both NIM and NIMAS achievements were recognized by government officials, including Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, to promote adventure tourism and high-altitude training capabilities.
