Indian Navy and Coast Guard Evacuate Injured Sailor from Oil Tanker off Mumbai

The Indian Navy, using a Sea‑King helicopter from INS Shikra, and the Indian Coast Guard carried out a high‑risk medical evacuation of a 30‑year‑old sailor with severe eye injuries from the crude‑oil tanker MT Desh Shakti off the Mumbai coast. The rescue took place under a red‑alert monsoon condition marked by incessant rain, poor visibility and rough seas. The helicopter winched the injured seafarer with a rescue basket, stabilised him onboard, and flew him ashore for urgent medical care.
