Indian Navy and TVS Motor launch ‘Fleet to Forts’ expedition in Maharashtra

The Indian Navy has partnered with TVS Motor Company to launch the ‘Fleet to Forts’ motorcycle expedition, a 14-day journey covering more than 1,600 km across Maharashtra. Flagged off from Mumbai, the 25-member contingent, led by Captain Shekhar Deshpande, is traveling on TVS Ronin motorcycles to visit ten historic forts associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The expedition includes sites recently inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the ‘Maratha Military Landscapes of India’. Beyond celebrating regional heritage, the initiative aims to engage local youth regarding naval career pathways, with a specific focus on the Agnipath Scheme, the Indian government’s short-term recruitment program for personnel below officer rank.

The diverse team consists of officers, sailors, and Agniveers, prominently featuring women officers and Agniveers to highlight ‘Nari Shakti’ (women power).
