Indian Navy frigate INS Trishul arrives in Civitavecchia, Italy

The Indian Navy frigate INS Trishul has arrived at the port of Civitavecchia, Italy, as part of an ongoing operational deployment to the Mediterranean Sea. Prior to entering the harbor, the vessel conducted a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Italian Navy ship Carlo Margottini.

The exercise included coordinated maneuvering drills, communication procedures, replenishment approaches, cross-deck landings, personnel transfers, and boarding operations. According to the Ministry of Defence, the PASSEX was designed to facilitate the exchange of best practices and enhance operational synergy between the two navies.

This visit follows the ship’s participation in the Konkan-26 bilateral maritime exercise with the United Kingdom and a recent stop in Lisbon, Portugal. The port call is intended to strengthen the maritime partnership between India and Italy, which was elevated to a Special Strategic Partnership in May 2026.
