Indian Navy launches fifth indigenous Diving Support Craft DSC A24

On 1 August 2026 the Indian Navy commissioned DSC A24, the fifth and final vessel of its Diving Support Craft (DSC) programme, at the Titagarh shipyard in Kolkata. The launch ceremony was conducted by Kamal Singh and attended by Vice Admiral Gurcharan Singh, Chief of Personnel, along with senior navy officials and representatives of Titagarh Rail Systems Limited, the builder of all five catamaran‑hull vessels.

The DSCs, each displacing roughly 300‑400 tonnes, are designed for diving support, underwater inspection, salvage assistance and coastal operations, offering enhanced stability and deck space. About 70 % of their equipment is sourced from Indian manufacturers, reflecting the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make‑in‑India defence initiatives and underscoring the growing capability of India’s domestic shipbuilding sector.
