India and Russia conduct INDRA-2026 naval exercises

The Indian Navy frigate INS Sahyadri has arrived in Vladivostok, Russia, to participate in the bilateral naval exercise INDRA-2026. Scheduled to take place from October 13 to October 18, the drills aim to strengthen maritime cooperation and enhance interoperability between the two nations.

The exercise consists of two primary phases: a harbor phase involving professional exchanges and maritime activities to share experiences, followed by a sea phase where both navies will conduct joint operations at sea. Beyond military drills, the program includes social and cultural events to foster mutual understanding between personnel.

This deployment aligns with India’s ‘SAGAR’ vision for maritime partnership in the region and builds upon the momentum from the 23rd annual India-Russia summit. The exercise serves to reinforce the long-standing defense partnership and improve joint operational capabilities in the maritime domain.
