Indian Ocean islands partner to develop combined tourism networks
Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles, and Réunion are collaborating to develop a sustainable tourism network in the Indian Ocean. The initiative focuses on creating combined travel packages that allow visitors to experience multiple destinations within a single trip through air, cruise, and maritime transport.
Key components of the plan include agreements on sea-to-air tourism packages, coordinated transfers, and reciprocal fee exemptions for maritime transit services. Regional airlines, including Air Mauritius, Air Madagascar, and Air Seychelles, are expected to enhance connectivity through synchronized scheduling and coordinated baggage handling facilities.
The cooperation aims to leverage the complementary assets of each island to enrich the visitor experience while driving economic benefits for local professionals across the region. This strategy seeks to position the southwestern Indian Ocean as a cohesive tourism circuit.
